The fighting at nap time, the bedtime shenanigans... I can't take it any more.
After three hours of trying to rock her to sleep last night, and 20 minutes of attempting to wrestle her into her nap just now, I have hit my limit.
I just dragged the Pack-n-Play into our bedroom and plunked E into it with her two favorite stuffed animals. I sat by her for the first 5ish minutes then left and poured myself some wine for the fall out.
And now... we wait.
UPDATE: She fell asleep in just under an hour. I did go back and reassure her twice, then finally laid her down in the Pack-n-Play and laid down on the floor next to her until she fell asleep (it took >5 minutes). She is still asleep. *fingers crossed* things are easier the next time!
Oh no! What's going on?! Teething? How old is she, maybe she needs a re-adjustment of her nap time times? Good luck! xx
ReplyDeleteShe is 13 months and generally takes one one-ish hour nap per day. She has always been a terrible sleeper and has co-slept with us since she was about 5 months old. The past month or two, she has become so mobile that she just will. not. lay. down. for naps or bedtime and it is a constant battle. I usually end up having to rock her or nurse her to sleep, but this past week she has been resisting even that.
DeleteI'm about to lose my mind, so decided it is time to try something new! If you have any tips, I would love to hear them! :-)
Does she seem tired when you put her down for her nap? If she looks really tired I would try putting her down a little earlier. Once you have decided on a good time to nap, stick with it an stick with your routine. Then just be firm, but kind and don't let her get round you! Hehe! With Alice I just don't give in at all. If she won't nap, fine. But I won't let her play with toys and at night, I wont let her in our bed. It's hard when they cry, but as long as they are not ill then you can't hurt them. It's just setting boundaries! And babies love routine! Xx
Deletehow'd it go?!
ReplyDeleteI posted a brief update above. She only slept about 35 minutes, but woke up in a great mood and has been happy since. We will see how tonight goes!
DeleteGood luck!!!
DeleteNo one ever wants to let their kid cry. We all just hit a breaking point. I soooo feel for you friend!!
